KY 47567. Seventh U.S. Army stab to the Reich. Infantrymen of the Seventh U.S. Army enter the French border village of Sufflenheim as Lieutenant General Alexander M. Patch's men drove northeast through Alsace, slicing through the Maginot Line defenses to be the fifth Allied army to enter the Reich. Offering a new threat to Germany's Saar Basin, soldiers of the Seventh Army took Wissembourg on the border and reached a point only seven miles from the important industrial city of Karlsuhe.
