His plane, the Santa Lucia, overloaded with its 1,027 gallons of gasoline and 53 gallons of oil, swerved from the concrete runway, tore into a heavy wire fence and burst into flames. The ace, trapped in the crushed framework, burned to death, as horrified watchers, police and mechanics stood helpless before the roaring inferno, which enveloped the plane. It was impossible to reach Gen. De Pinedo's body until the gasoline burned out. Leaving nothing but the red hot metal framework. (N-9-2-330630) [SIPHO] [INTERNATIONAL NEWS PHOTOS]
