Royal Air Force's camera squad on parade -. Aerial photography has become one of the most important activities of the Royal Air Force, and at the R.A.F. School of Photography at South Farnborough, Hampshire, boy apprentices from 16 to 18 years of age are given an intensive course to fit them for the work. The course includes the taking of pictures, developing and printing, and the plotting of mosaics - joining up the resulting pictures to make a complete plan of the area photographed. Aerial photograph will be particularly useful in modern warfare, but it has more important functions in peacetime. R.A.F. planes have, by using the aerial camera, discovered ancient ruins that would have taken land parties years to find, and have mapped new air routes over uncharted territory.
