FLUSHING, L.I. – The Goodyear advertising blimp Columbia, a familiar sight to New Yorkers since last October, was damaged while trying to land at Holmes Airport, Jackson Heights, this afternoon, and arose and was borne away by a forty-mole wind across Flushing Bay. The craft finally came down crashing into a frame structure located on the edge of Flushing meadows. Two of the three men aboard escaped with injuries, the third, a mechanic, was killed when he either leaped or fell from the cabin of the ship while in flight. 2/13/32 A view of the wrecked blimp after it crashed into the frame structure.
